She says, “The most important thing that any clinician who is working with immigrants can do is listen to the stories of individuals…Racism is finally being recognized as a public health issue, but it’s also important to connect that to the immigrant experience…A lot of the challenges that immigrants experience are actually due to racism.”

Dr. Minero, joined by Orion Wells, Bianca Gomez, and Kate Moran discussed issues of harassment and equity in Madison's nightlife in a panel organized by Sarah Akawa, Joey Bee, T. Banks, Alix Shabazz, and King Shabazz. The conversation ranged from racist dress codes to bouncers not accepting foreign passports as a form of ID to the difficulty of accessing events in a wheelchair to how allies can react and intervene when marginalized people are mistreated.
